Cronbachs alpha is used to check the internal consistency of a questionnaire scale. It gives a measure of whether the individual questions (items) are consistently measuring one underlying latent variable..

Agreement of observers or methods This set of techniques are used to assess agreement between the same measurements using either different raters or different methods e.g. two methods for measuring blood pressure. The chosen method is dependent on the type of data collected. For categorical data use Cohen's kappa (nominal data) or Weighted Kappa (ordinal data). For a continuous outcome use the Intraclass correlation (ICC).
