Tests for categorical variables

Chi-squared test of association is used when you are looking for an association between two categorical variables.
Chi-squared goodness of fit test is used when testing one variable against a specific distribution.

Logistic regression allows you to assess the impact of several continuous/binary variables on one binary outcome. It also allows predictions of the likelihood of an event. Multinomial regression is an extension of this where there are more than two groups.
